CDO Enhances Youth-Friendly HIV Services in Mvomero to Promote Health Awareness and Prevention

CDO, in collaboration with the HIV Coordination Officers of Mvomero District Council (DAC and CHAC), we are currently conducting outreach activities through the Afya Yangu Maisha Yangu project, aimed at strengthening youth-friendly health services across health centers in Mvomero District.

The initiative kicked off on 9 October 2025 at Melela and Melela Mlandizi Health Centers, where over 150 youth voluntarily turned up for HIV testing, counseling, and reproductive health education in a safe and friendly setting.

During the sessions, young people are empowered with:

  1. Knowledge on reproductive health and HIV
  2. Life skills and GBV prevention
  3. Guidance on HIV self-testing using oral fluid kits
  4. Awareness to end stigma against people living with HIV

This ongoing effort supports government strategies and contributes to global HIV goals like the 95-95-95 targets, by increasing access to services and promoting early diagnosis among young people.
