NM-ECDP Review Meeting Enhances Early Childhood Development Efforts in Morogoro

@cdo_mzumbe@ECD Stakeholders, in collaboration with Morogoro Regional Office, successfully conducted the National Multisectoral Early Childhood Development Program (NM-ECDP) fourth quarter Review Meeting on February 28, 2025, at Morogoro Referral Hospital-Nkungu Hall to evaluate the progress of the National Multi-Sectoral Early Childhood Development Program.
The meeting was officiated by the Morogoro Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS) Dr Musa Ally Musa, accompanied by the Acting Regional Medical Officer Verediana Kajala and Regional Social Welfare Officer (RSWO) M/s Jesca Kagunila. Participants included social welfare officers, nutritional officers, education officers, health officers from various district councils, leaders of the union of Morogoro Daycare Owners, and other @ECD stakeholders in the region.

During the meeting, eight out of nine district councils presented their reports on the progress of NM-ECDP, highlighting key interventions in health, nutrition, child safeguarding and protection, responsive caregiving, and opportunities for early learning. However, several challenges were identified, including the fact that out of 357 identified daycare centers in the Morogoro region, only 95 are formally registered, raising concerns about child safety. The Chairperson also urged all ECD stakeholders to communicate and improve the coordination of all activities related to ECD.
The meeting concluded with a call for stronger collaboration, improved coordination, and enhanced commitment to early childhood development efforts across the Morogoro region.
