On 11th to 13th September 2024, CDO, in collaboration with the District Community Development Officer who works with women’s groups in the community, carried out a 3-day field visit. On the ground, we engaged Village Executive Officers, Ward Executive Officers, village chairpersons, and technical community development personnel. The activity, part of the Afya Yangu Maisha Yangu project, focused on mentoring 240 adolescents and young women in economic and food security. To support these young women, groups will receive Tsh. 500,000 in seed capital to enhance or start small businesses after forming certified groups. This initiative aims to address economic challenges that can lead to risky behaviors, which may result in negative impacts such as HIV/AIDS and early pregnancies.
