On November 28-29, 2024, the Childhood Development Organization (CDO) joined 12 NGOs from across Africa at the Linking and Learning Workshop hosted by ViiV Positive Action in Johannesburg, South Africa. This two-day event brought together partners to exchange knowledge and strategies for addressing HIV prevention among adolescent girls and young women. Representing Tanzania, CDO shared its experiences implementing the Afya Yangu Maisha Yangu project, highlighting achievements and challenges in supporting vulnerable groups.
During the workshop, participants engaged in meaningful discussions on impactful themes such as microcredit schemes for empowering communities, addressing gender-based violence, and involving young women living with disabilities in project activities. The importance of engaging men and boys as allies in creating inclusive and supportive environments was also emphasized. These collaborative discussions allowed NGOs to share innovative approaches and explore solutions tailored to their unique challenges.
These insights highlighted the need for inclusivity, collaboration, and sustainability to create lasting impact. With the knowledge gained, CDO is committed to strengthening its efforts, reaching more vulnerable groups, and ensuring healthier, resilient communities in Tanzania.
