Childhood Development Organization (CDO), through the Mwalimu Bora Initiative (MBI), has established Teacher Motivation Committees at the school, ward, and council levels in collaboration with Kilosa and Ulanga District Councils.
This initiative marks an important step towards promoting and ensuring the practical implementation of the 2024 National Guidelines for Teacher Motivation, guided by the principles of participation, transparency, and accountability.
Why are these committees important?
➡️ Teachers are the foundation of quality education. For teachers to effectively fulfil their responsibilities, it is essential to create an environment that recognises, values, and motivates them in their work.
These committees are expected to ensure that:
- Teachers are recognised and appreciated for their efforts and achievements;
- Teacher motivation is provided in accordance with the criteria and procedures outlined in the 2024 National Guidelines;
- Communities, parents, leaders, and education stakeholders participate in promoting and recognising teachers’ good performance;
- The teacher motivation process is fair, transparent, and participatory; and
- Teachers’ achievements are used as a catalyst for improving students’ learning and academic performance.
CDO and the Tanzania Education Network/Mtandao wa Elimu Tanzania (TEN/MET) call upon Councils, village and ward leaders, school committees, parents, communities, and education stakeholders to ensure that these committees operate effectively.
The 2024 National Guidelines for Teacher Motivation should not remain merely a policy document; they must be put into practice.
Motivating teachers is not simply about giving rewards; it is an investment in the quality of education.
Through the Mwalimu Bora Initiative (MBI), CDO will continue working closely with Kilosa District Council and other education stakeholders to promote the implementation of these guidelines and foster a culture of recognising, valuing, and motivating teachers.
