On July 2, 2025, Childhood Development Organization (CDO) participated in the Morogoro Regional NGOs Meeting held at Mbaraka Mwishehe Hall, organized to reflect on the contribution of non-governmental organizations to Tanzania’s development agenda.
The meeting brought together stakeholders from across the region, including the Regional Community Development Officer, the NaCoNGO Regional Chairperson, and representatives from active NGOs.
CDO’s participation focused on sharing insights from its work in Education, Health & Nutrition, Economic Empowerment, Safeguarding and Child Protection. As an organization serving as the Regional Coordinating Unit (RCU) for Morogoro Region under the National Multisectoral Early Childhood Development Program (NM-ECDP), CDO reaffirmed its commitment to promoting nurturing care, sustainability, and inclusion of marginalized children, including those living with disabilities or albinism.
During the discussions, partners addressed opportunities and challenges related to NGO sustainability, transparency, access to funding, and the need for closer collaboration with public institutions. Financial institutions, such as NBC, introduced zero-fee banking solutions tailored to NGOs, while civil society networks shared information about thematic coalitions and carbon credit initiatives.
The Guest of Honour, Morogoro Regional Commissioner, commended NGOs for their role in social development and emphasized the importance of maintaining ethical standards, defending child rights, and rejecting harmful practices such as FGM and child abuse. He called upon NGOs to design projects that are community-centered, values-driven, and responsive to underserved populations like persons with albinism. He also urged the sector to begin preparing for long-term sustainability, given the expected decline in traditional donor funding.
CDO remains committed to constructive engagement with stakeholders and continuing to play a leading role in promoting child wellbeing, family resilience, and equitable development across Morogoro and beyond.
